A new Rotary year is ahead of us and I have been bestowed the honour to lead a club like Rotary Club of Belur which is more than 40 years old and is one of the finest and most active clubs in the district 3291.

When I came to Kolkata as an 18 years old boy from a place having population of less than 10000, I never dreamt that one day I would be president of one of the most prestigious clubs of the district, which has given to the district a dynamic district governor Ravi Sehgal and has many stalwarts as members. When I look at the list of past presidents and the service projects done by the club under their stewardship, I truly get inspired and I feel confident that under guidance of the senior members and with the support from all of you, I would be able to keep the flag of Rotary Club of Belur High.

I am really grateful to Rtn C.P.Singal who introduced me to the fasinating world of Rotary and Rtn Ganesh Jasoria who gave me the opportunity to work as sceretary of the club under his leadership. I have really learnt a lot while working closely with him.

R.I.Theme for the year is "Building Communities Bridging Continents." I am confident that under able leadership of our DG Rajendra Khandelwal, our club would be able to work a lot in the thrust areas like "Peace & Confict Resolution", "Economic & Comprehensive Development", "Child Mortality & Child Care", "Literacy & Basic Education", "Water & Sanitation" and "Preventive Diseases & Treatment" as declared by Rotary International for the Year. Our DG has also announced his Vision 10 which is a path breaking idea. We are already very active in most of the activities under Vision 10. We would pursue the projects under Vision 10 vigorously during the year.

I am fortunate to have Rtn. Vinod Khetan, a very hard working and sincere person to act as secretary of the club during the year. I am looking forward to New year with lot of expectations and assure you that with your cooperation we would succeed in Building Communities - Bridging continents during the year.
